The annual Lux Helsinki festival switches on during the darkest time of the year. The 8th edition featured more than 15 light installations commissioned from light and sound artists coming from diverse places like Belgium, Canada, Finland and France. Some of the highlights include Russian Alexander Reichstein’s ghostly figures crafted from bent wire sprayed with fluorescent paint that glows with UV light.

Also, Finland’s Martta-Kaisa Virta shared ‘Medicine City’, a dazzling architectural model crafted from thousands of empty aluminum medicine packages. Canadians Caitlind r.c. Brown & Wayne Garrett were also at the show with their interactive ‘Cloud‘. The sculpture, comprised of 6,000 incandescent light bulbs, switches on when people pull hanging ‘raindrops.’
