The Four Seasons’ Landaa Giraavaru resort in the Maldives was already a spectacular getaway spot, and the addition of a one-of-a-kind overwater wedding pavilion turns it up to 11. The freestanding structure, accessible only by boat, opened this month and offers an intimate wedding experience for a lucky couple and up to 16 guests. The monochrome palette and bifold doors on all sides allows the betrothed to customize the venue according to their wedding plans, while the glass floor serves up a view like no other beach wedding destination on Earth.
The wedding pavilion was created with a simple, elegant feel that gives couples the opportunity to make the most of a truly unique venue. By design, the chapel-like structure can be open and breezy or cozy and intimate, thanks to bifold doors on three sides. With the doors open, the wedding spot becomes an airy pavilion with spectacular views of the beach and Indian Ocean. The white-on-white design allows couples to customize the interior to coordinate with their wedding dreams.

Weddings at the Landaa’s pavilion make for some pretty spectacular photo ops, too. Since the pitched-roof chapel is freestanding, it appears to float on the deep blue waters off the northeast tip of the island. The most incredible feature of the pavilion, though, is the nod to a glass-bottomed boats, with a crystal clear aisle set into the chapel’s floor, offering a stunning view of colorful fish and resident sea turtles.
Prior to the pavilion’s installation, the five-star resort was already a hot spot for destination weddings. Four Seasons management hopes the unique wedding spot will draw even more couples to the resort. “Landaa’s wild natural beauty has hosted so many incredible weddings and celebrations,” Armando Kraenzlin, general manager for the Four Seasons Maldives. “UNESCO Biosphere Reserve location really sets up apart, and our vision with the new wedding pavilion was to incorporate this in a way that surpassed anything we’d offered before. Now wedding couples can surround themselves by–and draw inspiration from–the power, possibility and abundant beauty of the ocean.”
