This new two-floor building at the Taekwang Country Club outside of Seoul is a daylit cafe nestled on top of a steep hill overlooking the golf course. The cozy space is topped with a cellular steel roof that forms a protective canopy and dominates the site. Dutch design studio Mecanoo, who recently completed the incredible Delft train station, designed the building by translating the appearance of the surrounding trees into a distinct pattern of interlocking circles.
The building has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide expansive views of the mountainous Korean landscape and local vegetation. The generous canopy made of steel features voids that allow trees to extend above the building and filter the sunlight to create a calming daylit atmosphere.

The cafe functions as a resting point halfway through the game. Players can enjoy views of the golf course and its surroundings, which makes the building an integral part of the golfing experience.
