The sport of paddleboarding has risen in popularity in recent years. Like a curious hybrid between a surfboard and a kayak, a paddleboard allows a standing person to navigate water using a long paddle. Now, a company based in Slovenia is taking the paddleboard world by storm with a self-inflating electric stand-up paddle board. SipaBoards pairs all the ease and convenience of inflatable paddleboards with modern technology, thanks to the addition of an electric jet motor.
SipaBoards has produced what they claim is the world’s first self-inflating and jet-propelled smart stand-up paddleboard (SUP). Inflatable paddleboards offer all the convenience a watersports enthusiast could want, because they are easy to stow when not in use and to transport to the body of water of your choice. SipaBoards’ product design won the Red Dot Best of the Best Award in 2015, and the electric SUP is on the display this week at ISPO, an annual sports business trade show held in Munich, Germany.

This year, the company plans to launch three new board shapes. The All Rounder is the SUP with the widest appeal, making it a good choice for families. The Fisherman is an extra-large board with places to stow gear. The Balance model targets yoga enthusiasts with its added stability.
The electric paddleboards aren’t available for shipping yet, but you can sign up for an email notification when SipaBoards is ready to accept orders. When that day comes, they’ll be offering free worldwide shipping.
