VIDEO: Regrow scallions all year-round with your own personal green onion garden

Wait! Before you throw those scallion ends away, did you know that you can use them to regrow green onions all year-round? See how easy it is to save money and never have to buy scallions again by following our easy DIY project using recycled materials that will take about ten minutes to do. – Scallions
– An old plastic egg crate or other repurposable plastic container
– Scissors or an X-ACTO knife
– Water
– Sunlight

First, make sure that your container is nice and clean. If you’re using an egg carton like we did, use your scissors to cut off the top cover and set it aside to use as a tray for your scallion farm later on.

Next use your X-ACTO knife to carefully cut holes into the top of the container that are large enough for you to pop your scallion ends into.

Once all of your holes are cut out, fill your container with water. The water level should be high enough to submerge the roots of your scallions but low enough so that the cut ends still stick out.

Pop your scallion ends into the holes you cut out.

TIP: If you find that some of your scallion ends are too short to stand on their own, use a few toothpicks to help prop them up.

Find a nice sunny spot for your scallions to hang out. Change out your water every few days.
