Major reshuffle sees Clive Lewis assume role as shadow BEIS Secretary, as Barry Gardiner retains responsibility for energy and climate change brief
Jeremy Corbyn continued his latest reshuffle over the weekend, confirming Clive Lewis has moved from Shadow Defence Secretary to become Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
However, BusinessGreen understands Barry Gardiner will retain responsibility for energy and climate change issues in his new role as Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade, Energy and Climate Change. Gardiner's previous responsibilities for Europe have been shifted to Keir Starmer who was last week appointed as Shadow Secretary of State for Brexit.

Meanwhile, Rachael Maskell retained her post as Shadow Environment Secretary.
The reshuffle completes a busy few months for Lewis, who was promoted from his role as energy and climate change minister following the wave of mass front bench resignations that accompanied the vote of no confidence in Corbyn's leadership.
The reshuffle means Corbyn will continue with his strategy of ensuring the climate change brief is directly shadowed at cabinet-level, after Labour's protests at the government's controversial decision to axe the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The moves come as Labour seeks to draw clearer dividing lines with the government on a number of environmental issues. Gardiner, a key figure in the energy and climate debate, made headlines last month after pledging in his party conference speech that the next Labour government would ban all fracking in the UK and "back the clean technologies of the future" instead.
"Fracking locks us into an energy infrastructure that is based on fossil fuels long after our country needs to have moved to renewables," he said at the time.
His stance stands in stark contrast to that of the Conservative government, which last week awarded a partial go ahead to fracking firm Cuadrilla to drill for shale gas in Lancashire, overturning the ruling made by the local council.
Corbyn also announced a number of junior shadow ministerial appointments late on Sunday, including Chi Onwurah as Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy and Pat Glass as Shadow Minister for Transport.
The Labour leader said more appointments would follow. However, it remains to be seen if Corbyn has secured enough support in the Parliamentary Labour Party to ensure he can staff a full shadow ministerial team.
