The Villa Ljung comprises three buildings: a home for the client, a garage, and a small cottage for an elderly relative. The project’s proximity to the forest, sea, and a nearby nature preserve prompted the architects to create a design that celebrated the villa’s close contact with nature. Siberian larch covers the main home, while different varieties of larch clad the annexes.

Large glazed windows open the main timber-framed dwelling up to natural light and views. An open-plan kitchen, living room, and dining area dominate the L-shaped plan. The house also includes two bedrooms, a fireplace, a covered outdoor terrace, a sauna, and a heather-and-moss winter garden designed by landscape architect Anders Folkesson. The use of larch is continued throughout the interior, as is Danish brick, which can be found both inside the home and on the exterior path.
