Houzz Tour: Artful Architecture in the Heart of Paris (20 photos)

Houzz at a Glance

Who lives here: Architect Emmanuel Thirard, his wife and 2 children

Location: 20th arrondissement of Paris, a step away from the Père-Lachaise cemetery

Size: 1,355 square feet (126 square meters)

That’s interesting: The land was once a plot of the vegetable gardens of Paris.

BEFORE: Here is a view before the home was built. Located close to the Père-Lachaise cemetery, this former vegetable plot dating back to the 19th century is landlocked by the surrounding urban environment. In addition, the plot is sloped (13 feet), which made it a lot less appealing to someone looking to build on it. Nevertheless, Thirard saw potential for a contemporary house and garden in the heart of the city.
